Meg and Damon first met in the summer of 2021 at Royal Family Kids Camp—a week-long Christian camp for children in foster care. Damon had just graduated high school and was preparing to start his freshman year at the University of Oklahoma that fall. Meg had just wrapped up her first year at OU and was returning to camp for her second summer. There was an instant connection, but both were a little too shy to take the next step after camp ended. Over the following year, they crossed paths occasionally on OU’s campus, but the timing never seemed quite right. Finally, during their third summer at camp together, everything fell into place. On the last night of camp, Damon asked Meg if they could see each other once they were back home. That simple question turned into a relationship, and after a year and a half of dating, Damon proposed to Meg on March 21st.
