While the decision to propose was an easy one, deciding on the perfect time and setting proved to be more difficult. Would it be a grand gesture or something a little more subtle? Should it be public or more intimate? Whatever the choice, it had to be a complete surprise and a moment that would be meaningful. One of the many things I love about Kristine is her ability to transform the simplest of outings into something so much fun. That gave me inspiration as I recalled one of our first dates, a picnic in McDaniel Park, where we talked and laughed for hours while enjoying the sun and an unlimited supply of Asian snacks. I knew immediately it had to happen where it all began. Now came the difficult part, keeping it all a surprise. Under the ruse of a picnic and taking updated photos of us and Cosmo, I was able to get her out of the house wearing something she wouldn’t mind being photographed in. After some scary moments where I was convinced my cover had been blown, it was finally time. With Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song” playing in the background, I got on one knee and asked the question I knew I would be asking years ago in that same park. And I felt like the luckiest man in the world when SHE SAID YES.
