On April 25, 2019, Kim and I met the night before the official weekend of SRW. A couple months later during YCCLC, we chatted a bit, and I dmed her in August before school started because I wanted to get to know her more. The first week of school, we ran into each other and began hanging out right away. While I knew I really liked Kim and I wanted to date, she wasn't quite ready, and so we remained friends for the time being. Our time as best friends lasted for 6 months, and just before Valentines Day in 2020, she was ready to try out the "dating thing" and we began going on dates. I officially asked her to be my girlfriend on March 2nd, 2020. While we were sent home a week later because of Covid, we learned to work through long distance and how to manage it well with it becoming a recurring theme during the summertime. During the summer of 2020, we loved visiting each other in our hometowns, and we were able to grow so much during this time. ~ Damon
It was a complete surprise, as the day before Damon made it seem like he was going to propose! We spent the day in Breckenridge, went to a nice dinner, and watched the sunset together only to not be engaged at the end of the night. However, we had been watching the sunrise together on Sunday mornings that we served in children's ministry, and so we had our biweekly sunrise planned for 4/24. We got up at 4 in the morning, got our coffee, and drove up to Evergreen lake to watch a *very* chilly sunrise. All of our roommates were hiding behind the lodge to take pictures, and when Damon was ready, he said a few sweet, sentimental words and got down on one knee. I was so shocked, the only answer I could come up with was "Yea!" They were all so excited to celebrate with us!! ~ Kim
