Our Story Told by Damilola & Albert The first time we met, Albert was immediately drawn to Damilola’s caring heart and strong work ethic. There was something about her quiet confidence that stood out. But for Damilola, it wasn’t love at first sight. In fact, love was the last thing on her mind. She had already made peace with the idea that marriage might not be in the cards. “Marriage isn’t for me,” she would often say. But those who knew and loved her kept believing—kept praying—trusting that God was still writing her love story. Despite the slow start, a beautiful friendship began to grow between us. We bonded over deep conversations, shared values, and most of all, our faith in God. That became the soil where something deeper quietly took root—like a farmer tending patiently to a seed. Eventually, Albert built up the courage to express his feelings. Damilola’s response? “Stop calling me. Stop texting me. Let’s stop being friends.” Yes, really. But God wasn’t done. After time, reflection, and a lot of prayer, Damilola realized her heart had also been quietly drawn toward Albert. We decided to give love a chance—and from that moment on, we became inseparable. One of our most unforgettable moments was skydiving together from 13,000 feet in Santa Barbara—a literal leap of faith that mirrored everything we were beginning to build together. It was through that experience that Albert knew—she was the one. Our journey hasn’t been without challenges, but one thing has remained constant: God’s hand has guided us every step of the way. Love, rooted in faith, has continued to prevail. Of course, winning Damilola’s heart wasn’t the only approval Albert sought. He vividly remembers sitting in her family’s living room, speaking with her mother and asking for her blessing. As the matriarch of the family, she made it clear—marriage isn’t just about two people; it’s about two families becoming one. She told him to go back, pray, and truly reflect on what he wanted. And so he did. Even though his heart already knew the answer, he sought God’s confirmation. He prayed that if Damilola was the woman God had chosen, He would bless and guide this journey. Another important part of this story is Monjo. Damilola wanted to see how she would connect with Albert—and thankfully, they clicked from the very beginning. Albert also had the privilege of meeting Damilola’s brother, Olalekan, and attending his wedding—a beautiful day that gave us a glimpse of what our own celebration could feel like. Introducing Damilola to Albert’s family was just as special. When his mother met her, she hugged her seven times in two hours! Her warmth and instant acceptance meant the world. Seeing Damilola’s deep faith gave her peace that her son had chosen well. We are so grateful to the people who have walked this journey with us. A heartfelt thank you to Pastor Sam and Sister Grace Adeagbo, and to Pastor David and Sister Monique McGovern, for your unwavering support, wisdom, and prayers. And to you—our family, our friends, our loved ones—thank you for being part of this love story. Your presence and your blessings mean more than words can express. We’re excited to celebrate this next chapter with you, knowing it’s only the beginning of a story that has no end. With love, Damilola & Albert
