Damien and Sarah met as most millennial couples do, online! They were a 99% match, and despite Damien spending a lot of time talking about the "big one" (the giant earthquake that is supposed to decimate the west coast) on their first date, they hit it off and schedule a second date for shortly after. Then a third, and a fourth... and well, you get the idea!

Damien and Sarah decided that they wanted to take a trip to Canada for (US) Thanksgiving. Being in a foreign country and staying in a small studio apartment for a week would put any relationship to the test and they knew it would be a make or break moment. Not only did they have an absolute blast together, they both realized that they were in love! When they got to their respective homes after the trip, they realized they still wanted to be around each other so Damien came over to Sarah's so they could spend another night together. The next morning Damien told Sarah he loved her, and she happily said it back! They have been each others favorite travel companions ever since.

After spending months traveling back and forth from NW to SE Portland to each others' respective abodes, Damien and Sarah decided they wanted to move in together. They were just casually looking for apartments when a 2 bedroom, top floor corner unit became available in Damien's building. Despite Sarah being on the job hunt and still having months left on her lease, they jumped at the chance to move into the apartment (real estate goes quick in Portland!). They got the keys to their new apartment on 2/23/18, and Sarah accepted a job offer with Procore Technologies 2/26/18! They have loved sharing a space together ever since. Poppy (Damien's cat) and Felix (Sarah's cat) took a little longer to become friends, but they enjoy it now, too. Mostly.

In December of 2018, Sarah entered a wedding give away contest. Her thinking was she'd love to marry Damien, and no one actually wins those types of contests anyway... Fast forward to February when she received the phone call that she won! When the radio host asked how long she had been engaged she stammered "not long, let me call you back" and proceeded to text Damien that they needed to talk. They were both a bit apprehensive at first, since the contest specified they would have to get married that November. After a long discussion, and confession from Damien that he already had a proposal plan, they decided to go forward with the prize! While the giveaway didn't turn out to really be that great (they got a few hours of free photography out of it), they were both really excited to enter into their "agreement" to get married (since there was no actual proposal).
