Travel and Accomodations

If you're not familiar with Nantucket, please take a look at the details below for how to get there, how to get around when you're there, and options for places to stay.

Flight

Flying to the Island

Direct flights are available from various cities like Boston, NYC, and Washington DC to Nantucket (ACK). JetBlue has great rates on these direct flights. If you’re unable to fly direct, JetBlue partners with Cape Air (carrier for BOS to ACK) and usually has the best rates. Look at multiple arrival and departure options since the day of the week can change prices drastically. Use the Best Fare Finder linked below!

Travel Note

Can't fly to the Island?

No problem! All you need to do is fly to Boston, then make your way to Hyannis and catch a ferry. You'll also be getting the true islander experience by traveling to ACK the way the locals do! The ferry departs from Hyannis, MA, approximately 75 miles (<2 hr) from Boston Logan Airport. Two ferry lines are available: (1) The Steamship Authority (2) Hyline Cruises High-speed (1 hour) and "slow boat" (2 hours) options exist, departing hourly until 8 pm. There are also ferries from New Bedford, MA via SeaStreak Ferry. +++ If driving to Hyannis, we don't recommend bringing your car on the island, though it is possible on the slow ferry (call to reserve tickets). There is parking near the docks in Hyannis. If taking a bus to Hyannis, the Plymouth/Brockton Bus Line departs every hour from Boston Logan Airport (BOS). Peter Pan Bus Line departs frequently from BOS and Providence (PVD), as well. Uber and UberX are also available for transport to/from the ferry.

House Or Rental

Airbnb or VRBO

Airbnb/VRBO rentals are a great option for larger groups who are looking for reasonable prices. We recommend finding a place near town, or located near a shuttle stop (The Wave). Public transportation and ubers are available so it’s not a deal breaker if you can’t find a place near town.

Travel Note

Getting Around the Island

The following options are available for getting around the island: The Wave - a public transportation shuttle with stops all over Nantucket. Be sure to check proximity of your Airbnb to a Wave stop so you can be mobile! Biking - biking around the island is probably top 5 favorite things of ours of all time. There are endless bike paths that go to all the hot spots. Check out Young’s or Nantucket Bike Shop in town for a rental. Uber - yes, uber is on the island now! It’s not as big as DC or NYC but as long as you’re willing to wait you’ll get a ride. Things move a little slower on Nantucket :)
