Dalton and his football team crashed Gina's Freshman orientation lunch at University of Redlands (because...free food) and first saw Gina, her brother Michael, and her Mom. She left quite an imprint in his mind and over the next few months they saw each other all over campus. Dalton would have football practice in the afternoon and would time it perfectly so he could catch Gina at the gym because he knew she went at the same time everyday, even though it would be his third workout of the day he stuck around just to see her. Dalton eventually asked Gina to hang out outside of the gym, and asked her to go to our local bar's college night with some friends. Dalton didn't like the attention Gina was getting from the opposite sex so he honorably stepped in to 'pretend' to be her boyfriend just to keep the creeps away (of course). Gina ended up driving Dalton back home, he kissed her & the rest was history. Shortly after their first kiss, they both had to head back to their hometowns for the Holidays. Dalton was going on a road trip from Texas back to Southern California with his brother and sister-in-law; or that was the plan at the time. Out of the blue, Dalton asked Gina to meet him in Yosemite, one of their planned stops on the trip. Unprepared, Gina BARELY convinced her mom to let her drive through Yosemite by herself AND in the middle of the winter to meet up with a Southern California boy she had never met. When Gina reached Yosemite, Dalton felt badly about stressing her mom out and drove back to San Jose with Gina to meet her. And thus, their love story began. Fun fact: Dalton took Gina home to meet his parents on their second date.
Over their three years of dating, Dalton and Gina took numerous PCH trips from San Clemente to San Jose. They would always stop in Morro Bay and spend some extra quality time walking the shore at Morro rock and collecting sand dollars. It was important for Dalton to have his brother, Forrest , and his Sister-in-law, Cindy, be at the engagement just as he was able to be at theirs. Dalton flew Forrest and Cindy in from Texas to be there to take photos and share the special moment with them. Morro Bay is known to be overcast and have fog that can completely cover Morro rock. Of course, the fog rolled in the day Dalton planned to pop the question. They went to breakfast by the rock that morning and had plans to go wine tasting later that day. Dalton pretended to be in the bathroom for over an hour, when he was actually talking with Forrest and Cindy who were setting up the engagement scenery for them in the bushes near the shoreline at Morro rock and praying the fog would go away so they could actually see the rock. As the blue sky started to appear and the rock became visible, Dalton asked Gina to go walk the shoreline with him and look for sand dollars just like they always do. Dalton had to figure out how to get Gina to walk with him over to bushes rather than the actual shoreline, and was checking his phone constantly to look at the very vague photo Cindy had sent him to find the path to get to where Forrest and Cindy set everything up. Gina, who is an avid dog lover, was quick to notice a pair of dogs over by the bushes with their owner and just HAD to pet them. Dalton then led Gina through the bushes to find sunflowers arranged in the form of a heart. He then confessed his love to her and got down on one knee to make her the happiest woman in the world.
