FAQs

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP as soon as possible, and no later than July 22nd, 2026. This allows us to better prepare and ensure everybody is comfortable and well-fed on our special day!

Question

Where is the nearest airport to the venue?

Answer

The closest airport will be Des Moines International Airport, about 45 minutes away from Ames.

Question

Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Our venue will be mostly outdoors with access to the Great Room of the Raspberry Hill B&B. There will be a covered pavilion in case of rain.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

The weather can vary significantly! It is at the end of the summer rainy season, so there is a chance of rain. High temperatures are likely to be in the 70s, with colder temperatures at night getting into the 50s on average. Make sure to check the weather forecast before planning your outfit!

Question

Will you be reserving a hotel block?

Answer

We will not be reserving a hotel block for this event

Question

I am traveling to the wedding location from out of state. Where should I stay?

Answer

We recommend the Hilton Gardens in Ames, as it is close to our venue. However, Ames is a small college town, so even a hotel on the other side of town is only a 15 minute drive! If you fly in to Des Moines, then it will be about a 45 minute drive from the airport to our wedding venue.

Question

What should I wear to the ceremony?

Answer

Whatever you would like! The wedding party will be wearing blue so avoid wearing that color, if possible. August in Iowa can have unpredictable weather, so be sure to check the forecast to make sure you're going to be comfortable. Much of the day's festivities will be outdoors, with a covered pavilion and indoor area as well.

Question

Will there be an open bar?

Answer

We are still planning the food and drinks for the reception, but there will likely be a semi open bar that will switch to a cash bar after a certain amount of time.

Question

Can I bring a plus-one?

Answer

Yes! Please note in your RSVP if any additional people are joining you.

Question

I have food allergies or dietary restrictions. Will you honor these?

Answer

Of course! We will do our very best to accommodate everybody to the best of our ability. Our food will be catered by Hy-Vee and will be a buffet-style dinner. Please note your dietary restrictions in your RSVP.

Question

Can I bring my children?

Answer

Yes! This is a family-friendly event.

Question

Will I have to travel from the ceremony to the reception?

Answer

No, the ceremony and reception are both located at the Raspberry Hill B&B, so no travelling is required between the events!

Question

How do I get to the venue?

Answer

The address is 5500 240th St, Ames, IA 50014. Ample parking is available, and Uber/Lyft are available as well. We recommend renting a car if you will be flying into Des Moines.

Question

Is this venue accessible for elderly or other people who may have difficulties walking?

Answer

While the whole 73 acres of property is available to explore, some of the areas may be challenging for people with walking difficulties.

What are some things to do if we have free time?

Answer

We have compiled a list of ideas in our "Things To Do" tab at the top of the website. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions!

Question

Can we use our phones to take photographs/videos during the ceremony?

Answer

No, we will have a professional photographer at the event, so please make sure you don't get in their way with your camera and cause them to miss any big moments!

Question

Will there be a rehearsal dinner?

Answer

We are planning a rehearsal dinner the night before with close friends and family in the Raspberry Hill Great Room.

Question

Where can I smoke?

Answer

This venue has strict no smoking policy. There is no smoking on the premises or in the parking lots. If you would like to smoke, you will need to exit the venue or use alternatives like nicotine patches, etc.
