Despite running in the same circle of friends for years, Melyssa and Dalton had never talked to one another. That is, until the night that Dalton crashed the Christmas Party at the bar where Melyssa worked. We don’t know if it was the Christmas spirit or the tequila shots, but something changed that night. We started dating soon after, and the rest is history…

Burlington, VT has been one of our favorite places to visit since the start of our relationship. From the breweries, to the mountain views over Lake Champlain, to the many hiking and biking opportunities, we make it a point to spend weekends there whenever we can. Plus, it’s dog friendly! So when we booked a camping trip in August of 2023, Melyssa had no idea what Dalton had planned. You may not know this, but almost every vacation we go on ends up being rainy and cold regardless of the season. But there was a beautiful rocky overlook just a short hike from our campsite, so Dalton convinced Melyssa to make the trek despite the rain and mud in hopes that a sunset would breakthrough the clouds. Off we went, with Finlee and Ivy in tow, and we arrived just in time to prop up our phones to snag a picture as the clouds broke and the sun shone over the mountains. With a gorgeous backdrop and only the puppies looking on, Dalton got down on one knee, and asked Melyssa to spend forever with him. Of course, she said yes. When they arrived at the beach after the hike, they looked over Lake Champlain to see not one, but two rainbows. No photos could do the moment justice.
