We're getting married!

Despite growing up only a few miles apart, being the same age, attending the same high school, and sharing many of the same mutual friends, we never officially met until a 4th of July party during the summer of 2013 while we were both home from college (Gonzaga for Jacob and University of Oregon for Dalouny). We were at a friend's house for a barbecue and Dalouny caught Jacob's eye. Naturally he introduced himself and asked Dalouny to join him in shotgunning a beer, which she did (not very well). While we talked more throughout the day, nothing more came of it and we went our separate ways, returning to school in the fall. Our paths crossed again that winter when Dustin hosted a Christmas party at his parents' house and we both attended. One of Dalouny's friends had her eyes on Jacob that night and asked Dalouny to talk to him to break the ice. However, Jacob had other ideas and used this opportunity to get to know Dalouny. We ended up talking all night. He found out that she wanted to see the Hunger Games movie that had just come out in theaters and immediately bought two tickets for the next night and sent them to her phone. The rest is history. We went back to school again and maintained a casual relationship until the next summer when we decided to make it official. After a couple years of long distance dating while we both worked on graduating college and a couple years living in Portland separately we moved into an apartment together in 2018. Four years and one apartment later, we found a house that we loved and purchased it in early 2022. The next year it was time to take our relationship to the next level. While we were on vacation in Hawaii with Dalouny's family visiting Kin, we all took a drive up to Mauna Kea to watch the sunrise. While Dalouny was looking out at the beautiful scene, Jacob dropped to a knee and proposed. Almost 10 years together has brought plenty of joy and plenty of challenges but through it all we have our love for each other and we can't wait to see what the next chapters in our story hold.
