Matt caught Dallas’s eye at the South Campus Diner back in 2012 at the University of Maryland where the two attended college. Dallas promised if the day finally came and she married Matt, she would confess that she and Shelbe used to follow Matt to find out where his dorm was. After a Facebook friend request, and a few late-night run-ins Dallas and Matt were finally introduced through teammates. The two enjoyed a casual night at Bentley’s and were instantly inseparable. They spent the rest of their college years together, where Dallas got to cheer Matt on from the sidelines of Byrd Stadium. They have always found time for each other in their busy schedules whether it was Sundays at Chipotle before football practice or late night dinners after cheer practice. Since college, the two have endured long-distance, football seasons, and multiple moves all while raising their Goldendoodle, Kash! They can’t wait to (finally) get Married in May surrounded by all of their family and friends.
2020.... I know we should never talk about it again BUT it was the year Matt finally asked “Dal” to be his wife! The two were traveling to Anna Maria Island to get away with their 4 close friends. The group was to attend brunch that morning and instructed Dallas and Matt to go to the restaurant and the rest would meet there. Matt insisted that we walk on the beach to the restaurant instead of on the road, Dallas did not question his motive because she knew he only had a short time in Florida and assumed Matt was just trying to make the most out of their short trip. But after a 5-minute walk in 100-degree weather, Matt was on one knee asking Dallas to marry him! First, she said YES then she said my mom's going to kill you because she’s not here...unaware when they arrived back at the house her mom and three best friends would be there to celebrate. The group celebrated all day long in beautiful Anna Maria Island. (Shoutout to the Bodes for hosting) It truly felt like we had ALL been waiting for this engagement and it was the perfect way to celebrate in such unprecedented times.
