Our story began on an ordinary Tuesday night in October 2023, but it quickly became anything but ordinary. After a Dave Chappelle show, Cody stopped by Camp Bar in Milwaukee’s Third Ward for a nightcap — not knowing he was about to meet the love of his life. That same night, Dala happened to be there too. As fate would have it, we discovered we lived in the same building. Dala was in town travel nursing, with her beloved corgi Moose waiting back at home. It didn’t take long for sparks to fly. We bonded quickly over karaoke nights, live concerts, and discovering hidden gems around Milwaukee. With Cody as the local guide and Dala bringing the spontaneous energy of a traveler, we made the most of every moment together. That year, we met each other’s friends and families and felt even more certain that this was something real. In January 2024, we moved in together, and by February, Moose officially joined the family. Our love continued to grow through everyday adventures, late-night laughs, and intentional moments. In early fall, Cody asked Dala’s parents and close friends for their blessing before getting her engagement ring. A few months later, in December 2024, we found out we were expecting our first son — the best surprise of all. On New Year’s Eve, Cody asked Dala to marry him. She said yes — and the rest is history.
