We're getting married!

We were both living in Auburn. Trion was living there for school, and Dakota was there because, as she put it: "I was just here, honestly." Our paths were parallel from our first arrival in Auburn. We both just so happened to find ourselves on opposite sides of the same friend group. We both knew a lot of the same people, just not each other. Our first glance was in March of 2024 at the farewell event for Coffee Cat. Trion was playing bass for a local band, Bedhead, and Dakota was there for the festivities. We ran into each other once or twice after that, but never officially met until December 1st of that year. It was a Friendsgiving that one of our mutual friends, Tyler, was hosting, and the only rule was that you couldn't sit by anyone you knew, and we just so happened to sit together. We talked longer than anyone else at that table. For Dakota, it was love at first sight. For Trion...he was oblivious. We ran into each other again at our close friend, Molly Mac's graduation party, and Dakota made it her mission to get Trion's number. Trion invited her to his birthday party the next day, and that's when it was obvious that Dakota had a crush on him. As for Trion...he was oblivious. Trion and Dakota texted over the course of December. Trion went to some of Dakota's trademarked dinners, and during those dinners, we both fell deeper and deeper for one another. Dakota was in love. As for Trion...he called his mom after one of the dinners and asked "How do you know if a girl likes you?" On December 23rd, Dakota texted Trion and asked if he was in Auburn for New Year's Eve, and Trion decided to go. Little did we know that this night would change our lives forever. *gasp* When Trion walked into the party, Molly Mac made a beeline for him and asked "What's going on with you and Dakota?" Trion, still mostly oblivious, played coy and said "I don't know...she's kinda cool." Molly Mac then said: "Well...if you asked her out on a date...she wouldn't say no." Trion was no longer oblivious. When Dakota arrived at the New Year's Eve Bash, she and Trion talked for the entire night. Once midnight hit, Trion walked Dakota down to her car, and asked her out. Surprise surprise...she said yes! A few days later, Trion, who had never gone on a date before, took her to an Asian restaurant in a supermarket. Not a great place for a first date in hindsight, but it somehow worked. After a few dates, we made it official! Fun fact: our first kiss was after watching an episode of Justice League Unlimited. How nerdy. Almost a whole year later, on New Year's Eve of 2025, Trion decided to take the next step and propose to Dakota. She figured it out way before, but that's neither here nor there. Trion "hired" his friend Crawford to fake a car emergency, and told Dakota that we needed to go help him before we go to our "New Year's Eve Party." It was secretly the engagement party, but again, Dakota already knew that part. Once we arrived in downtown Opelika, Trion got down on one knee and popped the question. Well...almost popped the question, because right as he dropped the knee, a random person on a bike drove right in between us, saying "Coming through, Happy New Year, y'all." After the hilarious distraction, Trion officially asked the question, and surprise surprise...Dakota said yes. Neither of us knew on that Friendsgiving that we were sitting next to the person we would spend the rest of our lives with, and neither of us would have it any other way.
