We didn't meet as most traditional couples meet-we sort of always knew each other. Growing up in the same small town, our parents were friends, and Dakota was very close friends with Ryan, my older brother. I was always bugging Ryan to let me tag along with him and his friends. Not only because I was bored, but because I had a MAJOR crush on Dakota (don't tell him he still doesn't know). As the boys got older, they were interested in different things and fell into different friend groups. Naturally, this meant I stopped seeing Dakota on a regular basis. Fast forward about 15 years, my Mom moved into a house across town on Cedar Street. While visiting, I noticed a sign on the neighbor's garage that read, "Colburn". I asked my mom about it, and she casually said "Oh yeah, Dakota Colburn lives across the street. Do you remember him?" This gave me enough of an excuse to add him on Facebook. We started chatting, but nothing came of it. For a couple of years, we interacted on Facebook and sometimes exchanged flirty messages, but it wasn't until September 12, 2021, that I happened to be in town and Dakota asked if I would be interested in hanging out for a little bit. We talked for hours catching up, then decided to see each other the next day too. Everything came so easily for us. For weeks we saw each other as much as possible. Then, I was presented with a job opportunity to travel to California- something I applied for before we started hanging out. I was so nervous to break the news to Dakota thinking that meant the end of whatever this was. When I finally got the courage to tell him I would be moving in a couple of weeks he shocked me by saying, "Can I come with you?". And the rest is history ;)
