Flash back to 2014 when Kendall and Dakota crossed paths during student leadership team. It was their senior year and Kendall was rightfully hesitant to jump into a relationship, since her mom warned her about the challenges that come with parting ways for college. If John and Cindy could make it, heck, why couldn't they? Fast forward to high school graduation... Kendall claims Dakota followed her to San Francisco, but the truth is, she wouldn't have been able to get through the five years there without him. The two went to separate colleges in the city, which allowed them to grow independently, yet together in a beautiful way.
A drip of sweat falls down Dakota's forehead. It was an early Saturday afternoon, on the road to San Diego for a McCarthy family trip. Their Hawaii vacation had been cancelled due to some major world event, so plans had to change. No more helicopter ride. No more cliffside viewpoint. No more proposal on the beach as they rode on horseback through a golden sunset like two wild gazelles. Initiate plan B. The new plan was to go to "the one restaurant" that allowed indoor dining in San Diego before they could check-in to their AirBnb. Of course they had to dress up because "it was a fancy place." Fun fact: Kendall forgot her brand-new coat and Dakota couldn't stop laughing (out of nervousness) at the fact that she left it at home. Her suspicion was building and she might have even texted a few friends... They decided to make a pitstop at Sunset Cliffs beforehand because Kendall's brother Ryan "wanted to go check out the sea caves". They walked out to Pappy's Point (now a very special place for Kendall, as she called her closest grandpa "Pappy"), and with the perfect sunset peaking through an overcast sky, Dakota got on one knee and did the damn thing! He asked and she said DUH! There were many happy tears, friendly faces, and great memories to celebrate this special moment. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Los Angeles!
