(coincidentally, Dakota's birthday!) We met at a church young adult group on Long Island, NY. We eventually joined the same small group and got to know each other more and found out that opposites definitely do attract! We went on our first date on February 14th, 2019 and never stopped!

Dakota asked our friends to make (fake) lunch plans with Joann after church at a small cafe located in the Bayard Cutting Arboretum. When we arrived, Joann made a beeline from the parking lot to the cafe, while Dakota tried to take her for a stroll around the property to make contact with our incognito photographer, and pulled Joann in the opposite direction. Joann was insistent that they should be waiting for their friends to get there and continued towards the cafe. After a few seconds of passive aggressively tugging each other in opposite directions, Dakota, trying to get her to stop, picked up sticks and threw them on the ground in the shape of an "X" to distract her. He said "X marks the spot"! Confused and flustered, Joann started to question what in the world was going on with him. He then knelt down and popped the question!
