How We Met

May 8, 2009

We met at a track meet during our Sophomore year of high school. We had seen each other throughout the season, but it wasn't until the 8th of May that we officially met one another. Throughout high school, we were friends, saw each other at sporting events, and randomly comment on a MySpace or Facebook post. The summer after we graduated we hung out with groups of friends, mainly Caleb, and then went to different states for the beginning of college.

The First Day

July 4, 2014

Throughout college, we continued to randomly talk periodically. In December of 2013 when I was back in Omaha from Chadron we went ice skating with some friends. Shortly after I went back to Chadron and found out I had to transfer schools-Wayne State being the top option. March 26, 2014, I posted on Facebook. "So there's this boy; the way he laughs makes me smile and the way he talks gives me butterflies. When I catch him looking at me, my heart beats faster. When he holds my hand I know all will be alright. A hug from him makes my day. Just everything about him makes me happy." Becky comment that I should tell this "him" how I felt....little did she know at the time that it was her son. I took her advice and call Christian. We constantly tested and spoke on the phone after that date. I moved to Wayne in June. On July 4th Christian asked me to be his girlfriend on the way to the lake.

The "Yes" Day

July 6, 2020

After all of us quarantining, Ryan's family came out to visit us in CO for a week. Christian and I love to go mountain trail riding in our side-by-side and to take anyone who visits out to experience some of the beauty of Colorado. July 6, 2020, we planned to go out on the trails. It was a CRAZY day from the start. We were at the Bald Mountain trails and clearing, which is where we ate lunch and did some exploring: everyone was climbing and having snowball fights. We then move on to the lower trails. Somewhere along the way, the other rig didn't turn after us and they got lost in the mountains: no map with them or cell service for about 45 mins-1 hour. Finally, we found one another; tensions were a little high, and quickly getting dark-so we headed back to the clearing to head back. On the way back I somehow spotted a moose- it was so neat! We stopped for a few minutes to just watch him and take pictures. When we got moving again Christian suggested that when we get back to the clearing we stop and take a picture. He knows I LOVE capturing every moment I can through pictures. He also suggested we should climb up the rock for a picture. He somehow convinced me. We get to the clearing and take a picture of everyone. Then he and I climb up the rock and he takes of us up there. His mom down on the ground yells for us to face her for a picture. Little did I know that his dad was recording at this time as well. She takes the picture and I turn to get ready to climb down the rock. As I turn he grabs my hand and starts talking to me. It wasn't until that moment I knew what was happening. I WAS SO SHOCKED!!! He was talking and then asked me the big question-I obviously said yes! He hugged and kissed me and kept me from shaking off the top of the mountain. In the 6 years we were dating I had always wondered what the "perfect" proposal would be and never did I picture that-but I wouldn't have changed a thing.
