James and Da’Janai’s story didn’t begin in 2019… it actually started years earlier. They were in the same 4th grade class — though, with Da’Janai’s not-so-great memory, she doesn’t quite remember him back then. What she did know was that they went to the same school. Life simply had other plans before bringing them back together. Fast forward to July 2019. What started as a first date quickly turned into something neither of them expected. Conversation felt easy. Laughter came naturally. And from that moment on, they began growing closer and closer. As the years passed, they blended their families, built a home filled with love, and in 2021 welcomed a beautiful new addition to their journey. Like any real love story, theirs hasn’t been perfect. There have been ups and downs. Lessons learned. Growth required. But through it all, they continued to choose one another — again and again. “Two are better than one… If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.” — Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 In December 2024, what Da’Janai believed was simply their church Christmas party turned into one of the most unforgettable nights of her life. Surrounded by love and happy tears, James decided it was time to officially make her his forever. She said yes. “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” — 1 Corinthians 13:7 Now, on June 13, 2026, they will stand before God, their family and friends to become one. “Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” — Mark 10:9 Their love story may not be perfect — but it is perfectly theirs. And it is their favorite one.
