Zach and Dailie first met in the singles ward in Cambridge Massachusetts in the fall of 2022. The Ward held a Fall opening social which included a "get to know you Bingo". They quickly found they had a lot in common and hit it off fast, spending the rest of the activity sitting next to each other at a table of friends. One of those things they had in common was their great love for all things Lord of the Rings, and luckily for them, the show Rings of Power was just starting to be released. At Zach's suggestion they watched an episode together, setting up for plenty more opportunity to get together in order to continue to watch the show together. They became fast, good friends and did a lot more besides just watching Rings of power together until they both caught feelings and decided to give dating a try.

Since Zach was the one who bravely asked Dailie out, he planned their first date. If you ask Zach about it, he'll tell you about all the things that "went wrong". After picking Dailie up, his car stopped working twice before getting to the restaurant, he picked an authentic Taiwanese restaurant where Dailie struggled to use chopsticks, they got to the museum only 30 minutes before close, and got ice cream that melted all over her hands with no napkins to be found. If you ask Dailie, she loved that Zach picked a restaurant that meant something special to him, thought it was fun and cute to have Zach show her something new, had a lot of fun racing around the science museum in a fun, challenging attempt to see and show each other their favorite parts before closing, and especially loved coming home to watch one of their mutually favorite shows and held hands for the first time. But most of all they were both glad to have spent a very comfortable, natural, and fun evening with their best friend.

After Dailie confessed she didn't think surprising her was possible, Zach took the challenge, and surprised her very well. With the help of their friend Kristen, they convinced Dailie that she and Kristen were going Christmas shopping together in a cute part of town with lots of shops, conveniently next to Arlington's picturesque spy pond, a place Zach and Dailie frequently went for romantic walks. As Kristen drove around the corner past the shops, Dailie looked up confused, then out the window where she saw Zach waiting for her at the entrance to the path. She was taken completely by surprise, and sat stunned while Zach walked up to the car, opened the door, and asked her to join him for a walk. Dailie joined Zach for another romantic walk in their favorite spot while Zach told her many sweet things about all of the ways she had changed his life for the better. They ended their walk on a small pier overlooking the lake, where Zach got down on one knee, pulled out the ring, and asked Dailie to marry him. To which of course, she very happily said yes.
