Great question! Yes, we were planning to get married in Costa Rica. In spring of this year, we were informed that the venue we selected in Costa Rica was being bought out by another company who was voiding our contract. We explored other destination wedding venues, but we did not fall in love with any the way we had with Dreams Las Mareas. In lieu of selecting an alternative destination that did not have everything we wanted, we have decided to get married in Chicago instead. We are excited to celebrate our wedding locally with loved ones!
The dress code for our wedding is cocktail attire. We suggest wearing fall colors! Do wear: dresses, jumpsuits, collared shirts, ties, slacks, dress shoes/sandals. We recommend layers - the evening will take place both indoors and outdoors (weather permitting). Don't wear: jeans, shorts, cargo pants, sneakers, t-shirts, camouflage.
No! The majority of our guests are local, so we did not have a large enough group to qualify for a room block. Please visit our Travel page for nearby hotel suggestions!
Homestead on the Roof is above Roots Pizza on Chicago Ave. Please note that in order to access Homestead on the Roof, you must enter through Roots Pizza. Once inside the restaurant, please head straight to the back, behind the bar, and up the stairwell, or ask the Roots host for help!
Unfortunately, no! It is on the second floor and only accessible via a flight of stairs. We apologize for this inconvenience. Please let us know if you have any concerns about accessibility of the space.
The ceremony and reception will take place outdoors (weather permitting) on the terrace of Homestead on the Roof. There will be heaters on the terrace, and indoor access will be available throughout the evening.
The ceremony will start at 5:15 PM. We recommend arriving at 4:45 PM to grab a drink before the ceremony begins!
