The Journey

2007 - Present

1: Straight Outta BoCo We were always part of the same crew growing up, but junior year of high school marks the beginning of our journey. A summer growth spurt allowed Tyler to roam the halls of Bourbon County High School from a vantage point much higher than 5'3", and Alisha couldn't keep her hands off. From midnight rendezvous at the soccer fields to simply just sitting in a parking lot, we'd always find a way to talk about absolutely nothing for hours on end. We built a friendship that, little did we know at the time, would last a lifetime. 2: Dazed and Confused That friendship carried over to college with countless trips back and forth between UK and Transy. Alisha was busy playing soccer, running track, and presidenting her sorority. Tyler had a bit of a different agenda but somehow survived. We each explored other relationships and had completely different lives, but would still find each other at Willy T to shoot the shit like old times (AKA Alisha would make Tyler do her homework). 3: Party at the Moontower Post-graduation, Tyler moved to Chicago and Alisha was traveling the nation. Years went by without keeping in touch. But, as fate would have it, we ran into each other at Moontower Music Festival while we were both visiting home for a weekend. That turned into another late night parking lot chat catching up on each other's lives and reminiscing. At the airport the following day, Tyler had an orchid delivered to Alisha because it was her favorite flower and he couldn't get her out of his head. Upon returning to his apartment in Chicago, he found a letter sealed with a teal kiss echoing the sentiment. It was time to move home. 4: Homecoming Tyler moved back to Lexington and got an apartment where Alisha constantly third-wheeled with him and Dvoracek. This was really the first time we gave an actual relationship a shot. Spoiler alert - it didn't work out. Long story short, we both still had some growing up to do (although we all know who needed some maturing) and the timing wasn't right. 5: Dazed and Confused (Part II) Tyler decided that the best way to grow up was to move to Nashville and not have a job for two years. Cue the next phase of not keeping in touch for years. But, all those late nights in Midtown actually paid off. Tyler was having a typical Wednesday - a lunch beer at SATCO somehow turning into a 1AM beer at Loser's. On this particular night, Tyler was macking on some poor girl who ended up having some mutual friends. Turns out, they were on a bachelorette party for one of Alisha's friends. Tyler asked "do you know Alisha Acuff?", to which she responded by pointing across the bar. We ran across the bar and squeezed each other like we had so many times before, and ended up shutting the bar down catching up on life. But this time, no flowers or letters were sent - we left it at that. 6: Damn We're Old Years went by - Tyler got a big boy job and Alisha worked her way through Med School. Tyler somehow got roped into planning the 10-year High School Reunion, and couldn't help but wonder if Alisha was going to be there. She was, she was single, and damn she was looking fine. The timing was right, and we started the forever we always knew was there. Epilogue It took more than a decade, but we finally figured it out. Our friendship has grown even stronger throughout the years and allowed us to build the foundation for a relationship that will last a lifetime. Babe, as you're proofreading this, I want you to know that you are the love of my life and the best thing that has ever happened to me. It's so rare to have been able to watch each other grow into the people we are today and I wouldn't change a damn thing. I'm so excited to start the next chapter with you. Each of you has had an impact on our journey and we couldn't have made it this far without you. This night is for you all and we are SO excited to celebrate - it's going to be one we'll never forget (maybe). Cheers!

For all the days along the way
