Ted and Lauren met while working their high school jobs at what was once known as the Iceoplex at Southpointe. Lauren worked at the front desk, while Ted did miscellaneous tasks around the rink. He would hand out rental skates on Fridays, take out the trash, work the scoreboard, and kept the rink tidy — but he always ended up back at the front desk to see Lauren. After a couple of months getting to know each other, Ted and Lauren became inseparable. On July 26, 2017, Ted asked Lauren if she would like to be an “item.” The first time Lauren went to Ted’s family home, she was very nervous. Ted picked her up in his red Chevy Cruze, and they headed to his mother’s house to go out to eat and meet the family. At the time, the kitchen was under construction, and he warned her that the house was a bit dismantled. As Ted and Lauren walked through the front door, the fridge was sitting right in the entryway due to the remodeling. Lauren walked up to it and noticed a picture that stood out to her. She pointed at the photo and said, “Oh my gosh! That is my preschool teacher!” Ted responded, “That’s my mom!” It turned out that Ted and Lauren had met long before they thought they had. They had gone to preschool together — both in his mother’s class. A true invisible string. Ted and Lauren continued navigating the journey from teenage years to young adulthood side by side. They supported each other through victories and challenges — from failed driver’s tests to high school graduations, hockey games, college graduations, first full-time jobs, living in different states, and becoming homeowners. Through all of life’s changes, their love and commitment to each other remained constant. Ted and Lauren are beyond excited to start this new chapter in their lives and look forward to getting married with their loved ones along side them.
