How We Met

One Sunday afternoon back in April 2016 a friend invited me to join him for happy hour with some other friends, Dahena had just came back to the city after some time in Mexico and one of our mutual friends invited her to the same event. We sat in front of each other, the attraction was instant, but we were both really shy - and sober for that matter. A month passed and we met again at an event called Bay to Breakers where people dress up and celebrate all day in true San Franciscan fashion. She wore a Ninja Turtles costume, which was fitting because it was my favorite cartoon when I was younger. We ended up conversing a lot that day about anything and everything. Later that week we had our first date at a mini-golf place, it became increasingly clear that we had something special, that we connected on a deeper level. Both like to say, as cliché as it may be, that we found one another when we were least expecting it.

The Proposal

Fast forward two years and many adventures together, we took a weekend getaway on the California coast, one of our favorite spots called St. Orres. The idea was for me to propose after dinner, but we both had a little too much to drink, so the plan changed. I decided to leave the ring out on the table facing our deck looking out into the meadow, thinking she would find it in the morning with the sunrise. She found it in the middle of the night… and said YES! We were officially engaged at 4:30am.
