As her brother and I scrambled all afternoon trying to find a girl to play on our volleyball team, he said "I have a sister who can play!" I remember her walking into the gym thinking that there is no way that gorgeous woman could be the sister of Leo. We were inseparable on the volleyball courts. We spent an entire summer falling in love with each other on the sand. As the days became shorter, we knew we wanted to spend more time with each other. Lucky for us, that time has become forever.
On a gloomy Saturday morning in June, I sent Olivia off to have a fun day with her cousin. They went shopping for dresses, shoes, got their hair done, along with a manicure. While they were enjoying their day, I was rushing around to make sure everything was perfect. I was terrified that the engagement would be ruined by the rain, but I was determined to pop the big question. To make the day perfect, I asked close friends and family to meet me at Silver Beach that evening so that they could be there to start this new chapter of our lives together. As people began to arrive with umbrellas and rain coats, I thought to myself, "Well I guess we will all just get soaked for this." It poured till the moment she arrived. Olivia stepped out of the car and the entire beach lit up. She brought the sun with her and she did it at the absolute perfect moment. As we walked to the beach, hand in hand, I asked her about her day and how happy I was to see her. As we approached the beach she began to see familiar faces and new exactly what was going on. With the sun setting behind us, surrounded by our loved ones, I walked her to a ring of sun flowers laid in the sand and got down on one knee and asked the most beautiful woman in the world to share the rest of her life with me. I became the luckiest man in the world that day with her answer. One word. three letters. Yes.
