Peter and Josh first met in 2013 in the living room of the Ben Cameron's legendary 15 WEST apartment on the Upper West Side. Josh was in town from Chicago to perform in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, and rented the room right next to Peter's. They hit it off immediately, and went out together almost every night with a vague plan to meet cute boys- but for some reason the two of them always ended up back at their apartment eating Häagen-Dazs Peanut Butter Pie from the deli, and watching fierce belting on YouTube. Sparks flew, but they were roommates after all, and Josh would have to return to Chicago after his contract was over, so... Josh spent his last day in New York with Peter. They shopped at Bloomingdale's, had lunch at David Burke's, and then on a whim ended up booking a trip together to New Orleans for later in the month. That night ended up being one of the coldest nights of the winter, and the heat went out at 15 West. To stay warm, Peter and Josh turned on the oven, cracked it open, and sat in the kitchen singing through the entire score of Rent (Peter was Mark, Mimi, Joanne, and Collins, while Josh was Roger, Maureen, and Angel). It was well after midnight, and Josh had an early flight in the morning, so they said their goodnights, and retreated to their separate bedrooms. But Peter couldn't sleep. Josh would be leaving in 6 hours, and although they would see each other in a couple weeks, the final lyrics of the evening "No Day But Today" kept playing through his head. Perhaps dizzy from the carbon monoxide exposure, he found himself knocking on Josh's door, and professing his feelings. And then... Their first date was a vacation to the Big Easy- and after four days of eating beignets, drinking hurricanes, and listening to great jazz, they decided to be boyfriends.

In August 2017, Josh planned a trip to King's Island. The amusement park is the home of The Beast, the longest wooden roller coaster in the world, and the very first roller coaster that Josh rode when he was tall enough, igniting his passion and sealing his fate as a Coaster Queen. After a nice visit with Retha at the Walker Farm, the couple drove from Logan early in the morning so that they could be the first at the park. There was a bit of traffic, and Josh screamed at the other cars, cursing anything that would prevent him from a full day of riding roller coasters, and Peter momentarily wondered if he had made a lapse in judgement... Luckily, the park was fairly empty when they arrived, and Josh headed full throttle towards The Beast, but was surprised when Peter suggested they ride some of the other newer and scarier coasters first, and even had them sit down for Dippin' Dots at 10:30am. But the inevitable could not be delayed any longer, and they found themselves in the front car of The Beast. They snapped a selfie as they made their way up the lift hill, and seconds before they got to the top, Peter turned to the love of his life and asked if he would marry him. Josh responded "Are you serious?" and Peter confirmed, just before they went over the crest dropping 135 feet into an underground tunnel, Josh yelling "YESSSSSSSSS!" all the way down.
