We went to the same high school, but thanks to COVID, we never actually saw each other there. Cypress was going to school in person, and Toby was doing classes online from home. We finally connected through Snapchat, and somehow, a random conversation turned into something more. Right away, Toby tried to impress Cypress by telling her his favorite band was Queen… which is hilarious because (1) it definitely wasn’t, and (2) she didn’t even like Queen. Points for effort, though. Our first time meeting in person was at her grandma’s house, where Toby's plan was… to play board games with grandma. When asked how old he thought she was, the guess was “80-something.” She was 53. It was awkward and hilarious he thought she was a board game playing little old lady. We officially started dating on February 11, 2021, and we’ve been figuring things out together ever since. We’ve grown a lot from high schoolers to actual adults and through it all, we’ve stayed each other’s favorite person. On May 13th, during a trip to Glacier National Park in Montana, we got engaged. The proposal was a surprise (even though one of us had a hunch it might happen). While taking photos by a waterfall, he asked her to turn around for a picture when she did, he was already on one knee. Now, after years of laughs, learning, and building a life together, we’re so excited to finally get married and celebrate with the people who’ve supported us along the way.
