Travis and Cynthia first met during orientation week at Hume Lake in 2022, both starting their summer at camp with open hearts and big plans. From day one, something just clicked—they found themselves spending time together with the kitchen staff, playing card games, and sharing laughs throughout those sunny camp days. For Travis, it was a summer of new adventures—and meeting Cynthia was a highlight from the very beginning. For Cynthia, there was an instant spark (“he’s cute!”), but she was determined to focus on her faith and make the most of her time at Hume. Still, friends and even her boss couldn’t help but notice the growing connection between them, teasing her about “flirting” with her “boyfriend” as she found every excuse to hang out in Travis’s work area. As the summer drew to a close, Cynthia thought she’d be leaving for college, a little sad at the thought of saying goodbye to such a sweet friend. But life had other plans, and she found herself staying at Hume a little longer. Remembering the advice to “leave with no regrets,” Cynthia decided to be brave and told Travis how she felt. To her delight, Travis felt the same way. After a little prayer and a lot of excitement, Travis asked Cynthia out for coffee—and the rest is history.
