Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP by June 19th, as we need to confirm the guest count with the park authorities.

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

We'd love for you to join us before the ceremony! Feel free to arrive as early as 10:00 AM to mingle, get comfy, and chat with us. If you prefer to be present only for the ceremony, please arrive shortly before 10:30 AM, as that's when we'll begin.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

While we absolutely adore all the little ones and would love to celebrate with them, given that our ceremony will be short and held in the unique border location of Peace Arch Park (which comes with certain considerations), we've decided it's best to keep it an adults-only event. We kindly ask that you make arrangements for sitters for the kiddos so you can relax and fully enjoy the day with us!

Question

Are we meeting on the american or canadian side of the park?

Answer

We're actually meeting in the very heart of Peace Arch Park, right underneath the iconic Peace Arch itself! This means we'll be in the unique middle portion of the park that symbolizes unity between both countries. For a relaxed and intimate atmosphere, we'll have some blankets spread out picnic-style for guests to sit on. If you have any mobility restraints, please feel free to bring your own foldable chair to ensure your comfort.

Question

Are we crossing the border into Canada or USA?

Answer

No, not officially! This is the super cool and unique thing about Peace Arch Park! While the park itself straddles the Canada-U.S. border, if you arrive and depart through the park entrances (the ones you'll use to access the parking and ceremony area), you are not officially crossing into either Canada or the U.S. for immigration purposes. You'll be in the unique "peace area" where both countries meet, but as long as you stay within the designated park boundaries and exit the same way you entered, you won't go through a formal border crossing. However, this is why bringing your passport is so important! Because you're right on the border, officers from both Canadian and U.S. border agencies are present in the park. They can and do ask for identification, and having your passport ensures a smooth and stress-free visit without any potential hiccups or issues with your travel record.

Question

Why do we need to bring our passports?

Answer

Even though we're staying within the park and not officially crossing the border, officers from either the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) or US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) might be in the area. They occasionally ask visitors to show their identification and immigration information. While they're usually quite understanding, if you only have your driver's license and not your passport, they might ask you to go to a proper border station to present yourself. They often let you in without issue after that, but it can unfortunately show up on your travel record as if you were denied entry to the U.S. or Canada. We definitely want to avoid any unnecessary hassle or confusion for you! So, to make sure your day is completely stress-free and smooth, just pack your passport. It's the easiest way to ensure a joyful celebration without any hiccups!

Question

If I'm Canadian, where do I park?

Answer

If you're coming from the Canadian side, you'll want to park at Peace Arch Provincial Park in Surrey, British Columbia. For more details on the park, you can visit their official page: https://bcparks.ca/peace-arch-park/

Question

If I'm Canadian, how do I find the parking lot?

Answer

The parking lot is right behind the Duty Free store. Here's how to get there: From the highway, turn right onto Beach Road (as if you're heading to the Duty Free). Drive past the Duty Free store. Turn left onto the slightly hidden driveway clearly marked for Peace Arch Provincial Park. You'll see a checkpoint further along Beach Road, but don't worry about it! It's only for people who continue straight down Beach Road, not for you.

Question

If I'm American, how do I find the parking lot?

Answer

From the roundabout, take the exit for 2nd Street. Follow 2nd Street until you reach a parking lot. That's where you'll want to park! Important Parking Information: Please note that parking requires a payment of $10 per day. You can find more details about the park and parking on their official website: https://parks.wa.gov/find-parks/state-parks/peace-arch-historical-state-park
