We met in 8th grade. Shane was the class joker — the one who could make the whole room laugh, but somehow always made sure I was laughing the hardest. We just clicked. He asked me out and it was that pure, all-consuming young love. I remember thinking, even then, “I’m going to marry this boy.” Then life happened. Shane moved to another school and we went our separate ways. Fast forward to college. Out of nowhere, a message from Shane. One conversation and it was like no time had passed. We were right back to 8th grade, trading jokes on the school grounds, except this time we were older and the feelings hit even deeper. October 21, 2017 — we were walking the trail together, and he stopped. Same look in his eyes as that day in 8th grade. He asked me to be his girlfriend. Full circle. Since then it’s been everything. Happy times that had us crying from laughter. Sad times that only made us hold on tighter. Crazy, wild, unforgettable moments that are just ours. Every season of life, we chose each other. Now we get to do the thing 13-year-old me knew was coming. We’re tying the knot and saying yes to forever. Thank you for being part of our story.
