Back in July 2006, I was working at a Conoco gas station. It was the day after the 4th of July. As you can imagine I saw many people come in that day looking like they haven't even gone to bed yet. I did not think that one of those people would end up being the man that I am marrying. Nick walks in looking like he has been partying all night and needed to purchase a pack of smokes. I asked him for his ID and surprise surprise, he didn't have it on him. He quickly realizes that he is not going to convince me to sell it to him without his ID. Poor thing had to walk back to his place to get it. He shows up about an hour later. I can tell that he showered and freshened up a bit. He also has his ID this time. He hands it over to me and I see that it is a Pennsylvania ID. This is what sparked a conversation. We find out we had both recently graduated high school, we had lived in Colorado for about the same amount of time, etc. At the end of our conversation, he politely asked for my phone number...I politely told him no. He was shocked at this response. I told him I had to think about it and to come back tomorrow. The next day, in the drizzling rain he came back and asked if I had thought about it. You can guess what my answer was...no...j/k yeah, I gave it to him.
