In 2020, the whole world experienced a global shutdown and rapid changes. Being stuck at home and isolated from the world around me was the new reality where the majority of my time was spent going to work and church, hanging out with my puppy Teddy and watching movies. One movie in particular, called "Made of Honor" intrigued me. It was a movie about an American girl going to Scotland for work and meeting a Scottish gentleman. Before getting married, the Scottish man performed various unique customs such as throwing a wooden pole to 'prove himself to the bride'. I was curious as to whether these customs were genuine or just made up, so I created a dating account and changed its location to a random place in Scotland. I matched with a lot of people asking them random questions about their culture and if the things in the movie were true or not. That's where I met David, as he was living in Scotland at the time and his initial response to my question was "I don't know, I'm English". From there on we began talking about anything and everything, turns out we had a lot in common! We are both Christians, in the military, and view the world very similarly. Our job was even something we had in common. David is an Airman in the Royal Air Force and I am an Airman in the United States Air Force. Communication between us started up now and again as we both lived our lives separately in our two countries. We would FaceTime regularly, sharing personal stories and just genuinely getting to know each other, to the point where David became my best friend. On the 13th of December, 2021, we decided that we wanted to pursue whatever it was between us and become exclusive, knowing that the distance was going to be hard but that it would be worth it. It took a lot for us to make it work, especially being that we hadn't met each other in person yet. Everything changed in July of 2022 when I finally flew to England by myself to spend 2 weeks with him. I met his family and friends and saw where he worked, where he grew up, and where he went to church, making me fall in love with him. The 2 weeks passed quickly and it was hard to say goodbye, not knowing when I would ever see him again, I prayed about it and I told the Lord I wanted him. The next thing I knew, I received a text from a co-worker stating that I received orders from work and that the military was changing my station to RAF Lakenheath in England. I was ecstatic and although it was a fight to even get here, the Lord made a way and I am beyond thankful. Out of all the places I could have gone, I was sent to be with my best friend. David proposed to me in November of 2023 on top of a waterfall at Yosemite National Park. It has been quite the rollercoaster getting here, but I am pleased that every single one of you can join us on our very special day. May God bless you and keep you. Thank you for reading David and Cynthia
