A Vietnamese Tea ceremony is a traditional wedding ceremony where gifts, blessings, and well wishes are given and exchanged between family members of the bride and groom. For more information on what you can expect on the day of the ceremony, please see the articles below: https://www.donegeemedia.com/2017/05/09/expect-vietnamese-tea-ceremony/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traditional_Vietnamese_wedding#:~:text=fidelity%20and%20love.-,The%20Wedding%20Ceremony,-%5Bedit%5D https://vinpearl.com/en/vietnamese-wedding-tea-ceremony-a-beautiful-cultural-note
The ceremony will start promptly at 3pm. Please ensure that you arrive at least 15-20 minutes earlier to account for parking and walking to the Tran Family Residence. The photobooth will be available for you to use starting at 2:30.
Please utilize any street parking. Please leave the driveway free of cars.
We do politely ask that white and red dresses/ao dai/suits be avoided for the event. Vietnamese ao dai & garden party attire are requested. Floral prints, sun dresses, suits in all colors and patterns are encouraged. We do suggest bringing a light jacket as the reception venue is partially outdoors. Comfortable shoes are highly recommended as seating is limited at the ceremony. If you require a seat, please contact Cyndy at (858) 395-0169 to let her know so that a seat may be reserved for you.
No. The tea ceremony and the snacks will be held at the Tran Family Residence. The reception will be held at The Cottage La Jolla.
The reception venue is ~15 miles/~22-minute drive from the Tran Family Residence.
There is no dedicated parking at the reception venue. Street parking is available. We do encourage carpooling. If you are not able to find any street parking, there is a paid parking structure across the street from the venue located at the following address: 7680 Girard Ave La Jolla, CA 92037 United States
Please understand that we will not have a gift registry as we will be observing the traditions of the Vietnamese Tea Ceremony (Dam Cuoi), and the gifting of lucky red envelopes/cards for our blended wedding celebration.
In Vietnamese culture, giving a red envelope ("li xi") at a wedding is a customary practice where guests gift money to the newlyweds as a blessing for their new life together. The red envelopes symbolize good fortune and prosperity. We're incredibly sorry that we could not invite your plus one at this time, as we are at maximum capacity for both venues and had to make some really difficult decisions on who we could invite. However, please do feel free to reach out to Cyndy at (858) 395-0169, after May 15th to inquire if some space has opened up. We appreciate your patience and understanding at this time.
