How We Met: Ridge and Cyarah crossed paths in the fall of 2015 during their freshman year at Spartanburg Methodist College. Their first connection was in math class, where Ridge often texted Cyarah for help with homework. As the semester went on, they saw each other more frequently, but Ridge remained quiet and kept to himself. Things began to shift when Cyarah decided she wanted to attend a Kevin Gates concert. It turned out that Ridge was also a huge fan, so the two, along with some friends, went together. From that moment, they became good friends. It wasn't until the following year that they realized their connection went beyond friendship. The First Date: Ridge and Cyarah’s first date was a double date at Fall for Greenville. However, their real first date alone was in December 2016. Ridge planned a special evening, intending to take Cyarah to dinner and then to Holly Wild to enjoy the Christmas lights. But when they arrived at Copper River, the wait was over an hour, so they opted for Zaxby’s instead. Afterward, they went to Holly Wild to drive through the Christmas lights and feed the animals. The Proposal: Eight years later, Ridge proposed to Cyarah on Christmas Eve. Despite Cyarah always telling him not to propose on Christmas, Ridge went ahead and did it anyway. On that day, Ridge was acting a bit odd—pacing around, sitting outside alone, and being unusually quiet. Cyarah didn't think much of it at first, but after asking what was wrong, he claimed he was tired and his stomach hurt. Ridge suggested they go downtown Greer with Cyarah’s family to take pictures in front of the Christmas tree. Cyarah found it a bit strange since Ridge never offered to do something like that for pictures, but she thought it was a nice gesture for her family. After the family photos, it was time for Ridge and Cyarah to take a picture together, and that’s when Ridge got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Our Journey: Over the past nine years, Ridge and Cyarah have grown both individually and together. After two years at Spartanburg Methodist College, they transferred to the University of South Carolina for their final two years of college. After graduation, Cyarah moved to Tampa with her parents, while Ridge went to Arizona for spring training with the Angels. Today, they own a home together in Greenville and share their lives with their two pups, Saige and Skye. Over the past nine years, we’ve been lucky to create countless memories and reach so many milestones together. We have grown both individually and as a couple, doing our best to support each other through every challenge and celebrate every victory. Our relationship is built on trust, respect, and a deep commitment to always communicate, laugh, and learn from one another. We’ve learned to adapt to each other’s needs, always showing up for each other in the ways that matter most. We accept each other for who we truly are, embracing our differences and finding strength in them. We value honesty, kindness, and a sense of humor, knowing that no relationship is perfect, but we’re always stronger as a team. Above all, we’re two people who love one another wholeheartedly and fit perfectly together. As we begin this next chapter, we’re excited to continue building a life filled with love. Thank you for being part of our journey. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
