Our story started long before we even realized it. We grew up in the same place, had all the same friends, and even shared some of the same classes — yet somehow never officially met. It wasn’t until the summer before junior year, hanging out at our friend’s house, that our paths finally crossed the right way. The cheerleader noticed the football player, and from then on, everything changed. We’ve been loving each other since we were sixteen — growing up together, learning life side by side, and building something real and lasting along the way. Now, we’ve added the greatest chapter to our love story: becoming parents to our beautiful son, Silas. He’s the biggest piece of our hearts and our greatest adventure yet. From hallway glances to parenthood and now a wedding — it’s been a journey full of love, laughter, and everything in between. We’re so excited to celebrate this next step with all the people who’ve been part of our story.
For our 8-year anniversary, he planned dinner at a beautiful rooftop restaurant. I didn’t think too much into it—we were just celebrating another year together. Before dinner, he said he wanted to check out the view of the mountains on the other side. Me being me, I said “okay” and got comfortable, assuming he was going by himself real quick. But when I looked up, he was standing there… waiting for me. Still completely unaware, I got up to join him. As we walked over, I saw his sister and lit up, trying to say hi—but he gently stopped me. I was confused (and a little annoyed), until I saw my dad… and that’s when it all clicked. My body went numb, and whatever words he had planned completely vanished. My eyes filled with tears, and I buried my face in his chest, overwhelmed. My fingers swelled and I couldn’t take off the ring that I had on already, which made him panic a little—especially because I still hadn’t actually said yes! After the proposal, I looked around and realized both of our families were there, watching it all unfold. He had planned everything so thoughtfully, even if he was a nervous wreck the entire day trying to keep the surprise under wraps. It was the most unexpected, emotional, and perfect moment—one we’ll never forget. And of course… I said yes.
