The Varsity is one of Atlanta’s most beloved landmarks, serving the city since 1928 and earning its reputation as a true classic. It started as a small hot dog stand grew into the world’s largest drive in. The Varsity creates an experience that’s just as memorable as the food itself. Over the decades, it’s become a gathering place for everyone, from college students and families to celebrities and visitors while staying rooted in tradition. The Varsity isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a piece of Atlanta history that continues to bring people together, one chili dog at a time. This has been one of Curtis and my favorite restaurants to go to.
The Marietta Diner is a local legend and a comfort food icon that’s been holding it down since 1995. Known for its massive menu, it serves everything from classic breakfast and burgers to Greek dishes and over the top desserts that could feed a small village. It’s authentic and everything is amazing. It’s family owned, open 24 hours. The Marietta diner is one of the reasons Mary decided to stay here. The culture there is vast, many people on student visas. It’s a great place to converse and support the local community.
Piedmont Park is one of Atlanta’s greatest treasures and a true heart of the city. With roots stretching back to the late 1800s, it has grown into a space that reflects the best of Atlanta. Vibrant, welcoming, and full of life. Framed by the Midtown skyline, the park offers beautiful green space where people come to relax, celebrate, and connect whether that’s morning walks, picnics with friends, family gatherings, or iconic festivals and concerts. The park is Curtis and Mary’s favorite place to go. It reminds us of Central Park, we ride scooters often there.
Housed in a massive historic building that used to be a Sears warehouse, Ponce City Market has been reborn into one of the city’s biggest hubs. It’s definitely hard to find a parking space. Inside, you’ve got incredible food, local shops, and creative spaces that actually feel alive, not corporate and soulless. Outside there is the beltline that you can walk or ride. The rooftop is a whole experience on its own, with skyline views that remind you why Atlanta eats every time. Ponce City Market isn’t just a place to shop or eat it’s where culture, community, and creativity collide. Curtis and Mary love it here.
