Our first date was a mix of sweet simplicity and one total oops moment. We went to Tropical Smoothie Café for a simple start. The conversation flowed effortlessly as we sipped on smoothies and swapped stories about. The vibe was exactly how a first date should feel. But I had a tiny hiccup. In the middle of the date, I had a babysitting gig I thought I had scheduled that evening. Luke dropped me off at my cousins house, but it turned out that I wasn’t actually babysitting that night at all, so, no need to rush off! In the end, it was the perfect mix of awkwardness and fun that made the whole thing memorable. We ended up spending the rest of the evening chatting and laughing. It was a perfect first date!

We met young and spent most of our college years miles apart — between practice times, late-night phone calls, and too many see you laters. It wasn’t always easy, but our commitment was strong.
