Celebrate With Us

Picture it–it's February 2018, I'm at a friend's wedding, & I spot this blonde GODDESS of a woman. I don't know her name or anything else about her, but she stood out to me more than anyone else in the room. Later, I received a message from that very same woman - turns out she noticed me too. Fast forward a few months, & after several times running into her at our local Starbucks (drinking way too much coffee), come to find out that this woman isn't just a goddess–she's a geek like me. She continues to regale me on theology, her photography side-gig, Pokemon Go, & most of all –Star Wars lore. After months with my new best friend–concerts, freezing drive-in movies, Pokemon Go days, beach road trips, I hear her pray for the first time. Right when our friend group was struck with an emergency, Laura instinctively snapped into prayer. It was the most beautiful & powerful thing I had ever seen. It's my favorite thing about her. It took some time, but one Sunday morning had me asking my friends for prayer: I liked this girl, and I knew there was no one like her. After a moment of paralyzing vulnerability –telling her how I felt, about my past, & about my struggles, it turned out that she was still into me. I asked Laura to be my girlfriend on November 17, 2019, & she said yes. Eight months & 1 pandemic later, I knew she was the girl I wanted to marry. On September 15th, we got engaged. On October 15, 2020, I married Laura Ashley Cupp. Ever since, marriage has been the most challenging, beautiful, terrifying, encouraging, satisfying, rewarding, unpredictable, most perfect thing ever. 2020 was the best & the worst of times. As much as it threw at me & Laura, we chose to respond with hope, faith, & love. Despite everything, we were fortunate enough to get married, buy a home, honeymoon in Disney, & of course geek out over season 2 of The Mandalorian. 2020 was a year of big personal growth & wins for both of us. I'm looking forward to more adventures together in 2021.
