As two stubborn, determined people with silly rules, we became best friends through countless hours on bikes every weekend for 3+ years. It took all of 48 hours surrounded by nothing but the beauty of God's creation (and no silly rules) to know: God made each of us a person and we were with them.
On October 25th, 2019, we were supposed to be on a 5AM flight headed to Albuquerque via Dallas. We would drive to the Pecos Wilderness and backpack up to Pecos Baldy Lake for our ceremony: a special place for Seth who spent many summers backpacking there as a child. Well, the airline canceled our flight at 2AM and it quickly became obvious that we would not be making it to New Mexico. There was some crying, and mourning the loss of our wedding plans, but we made pancakes, packed up the car, and got on with our lives. 6 hours later we were in the ranger station at Big Bend National Park and soon after on the trail to the south rim for a sunset ceremony. Big Bend has always been one of the special places I go to quiet my soul and to appease my wanderlust. The south rim of the Chisos mountains is where I finally asked Natalie "out" on a date. Our first date was crunchy mac-n-cheese at sunset on the south rim. All in all, a perfect place to start a new phase of our lives together. - Seth To the mountains we ran, with a wedding as our plan, a ceremony at sunset, as bride and groom we met, and so our life together began. ❤ #cunninghamsmithadventure
