We both went to Western Connecticut State University. He was a communication major and I was a transfer student from Manhattan College in the Bronx. One day I decided to check out the open gym session to play some basketball. None of the other male players wanted me on the court, but Brian stood up for me. We got paired with each other every week. Although we were separated after for some time, the connection made on the basketball court would give us both a fresh start on what would be become the rest of our lives.
