The Beginning

Brooke and Dylan met in Spring of 2022 when Brooke joined the PBA Chapel Worship Team. They met up for coffee to talk about Brooke joining the team and during this meeting, Brooke shared her testimony and spiritual life. Dylan perked up, thinking, "this girl is really pretty." Immediately proceeding this thought, Brooke mentioned that she had a boyfriend; Dylan's dreams were crushed. After a summer apart and a well-timed breakup, Brooke and Dylan were back on PBA's campus in the fall of 2022, still noticing each other. On August 30, Dylan texted Brooke that she was killing it on keys and they have not stopped talking since.

The Trial
Answer
They were about to start dating when Brooke's brother, JJ, unexpectedly died on October 1st. In this grief, Dylan comforted Brooke, asking nothing but to take care of her. They started their relationship with the world on fire, but have truly seen God bless it and use each other for comfort and God's ultimate good. They truly saw God pulling them together when every circumstance surrounding them seemed to pull them apart.

The "I love you"
Answer
They had been really careful about doing and saying things at the right time throughout those first 5 months of dating. After one of Dylan's famous surprise dates, Brooke and Dylan were sitting on the Juno Pier eating Taco Bell. In that moment they both knew that they were willing to commit to each other and that spending their lives together was a real and exciting opportunity. Dylan set his burrito down and turned to Brooke to say "I love you." Overjoyed, Brooke said it back.

The Engagement
Answer
The period between the first "I love you" and engagement was a long period of learning how to love and sacrifice well as they waited for the right time to pledge each other's lives to one another. Leading up to the summer of 2024, Dylan had been planning and saving. He started the summer off by telling her he wanted to take her on a date every Saturday and to be ready for a proposal. On July 27th, 2024, Dylan took Brooke on a picnic. There, he proposed to her, read John 14, and washed her feet to demonstrate his sacrificial love for her. They picked a date and are eagerly waiting to be joined together forever on May 17!
