This 7.4 mile drive loops through the Beech-Maple forests and sand dunes. It provides insight to the history of the area and spectacular overlooks of the Glen Lakes, the Sleeping Bear Dunes, and Lake Michigan. You can take a dune hike along the Cottonwood Trail or stop for a picnic at one of the picnic areas on the drive.
There are plenty of shops and restaurants to visit throughout Traverse City. Pop into Rare Bird or North Peak for a drink and a bite to eat, and then stop by Cherry Republic or M-22 for some Northern Michigan themed souvenirs before the trip home. Leland, Suttons Bay, and Glen Arbor are a few nearby towns that we also recommend checking out if you have time!
