When Danielle was serving as Team Director at the University of Vermont, she was working at the Grad Student Activities fair. She approached Andy, attempting to convince him to join the Grad Student Bible Study, but was unsuccessful. He didn't forget about her though! Two years later, while some college friends were visiting Danielle in Vermont, they went dancing at a downtown bar. At the bar, Andy found Danielle on the dance floor, and after checking to make sure she wasn't married (he misunderstood part of their conversation over the loud music) he asked her to dance. They danced a few songs before his friends decided it was time to go. In an out of character act for her, Danielle then encouraged (aka forced) him to take her number as his friends dragged him off the floor and out the door. He waited a week before he reached out and asked her on their first date. And the rest is history!

After a two week business trip to Arizona (and a few hours of flight delays), Andy arrived at the airport and was picked up by Danielle and her parents. They left from the airport and drove straight down to Harrisonburg, VA to visit her sisters where the family had planned a weekend trip around Andy's ultra marathon training. While Danielle had a virtual training the following morning that forced her to stay in the hotel, everyone was out doing their own thing (or so Danielle thought). Andy was supposed to be running a million miles in the mountains, once sister was working, the other was hosting her boyfriend's family, and mom and dad were helping with some renovations on Micaela's new house. No one was, in fact, doing what they said. Everyone was helping Andy set up for the proposal at the most adorable little lavender farm and winery. Micaela picked Danielle up after the training so that she could have help picking out a lavender plant for the front of her new house (who knew that lavender shouldn't be planted in October?). As they walked around the lavender farm, Danielle saw a little gazebo set up with hearts and flowers and a photographer. She tried to walk away from it, thinking there was a wedding happening there soon and not wanting to be in the way, but then out walked Andrew. He had been hiding behind a bush right next to the gazebo. Before he popped the actual question, he told her all of the fibs that had to be told in order to make the day run smoothly and not raise my suspicions. He asked and of course she said yes. Danielle was shocked to see everyone who was there. In addition to the immediate Cummings family and their significant others (and their significant others' parents!), the Klems were there too! Andy's parents had come to be a part of the surprise along with his brother and fiancée. Everyone spent the next few hours celebrating with WOLF Vineyard's lavender wine! We could never give enough thanks to all those who made the day special.

September 2017: Activities Fair. Andrew rejected Danielle's invitation to Bible Study August 2019: That fateful dance at RiRa's October 2019: Defined the relationship. Andy's exact words: "I'm in it for the long haul." October 2019: Andy met the family December 2019: Danielle met the family May 2020: Both moved out of Vermont- Danielle to Maryland and Andrew to Massachusetts November 2020: Andrew moved to Maryland October 2021: The Proposal July 2022: The Wedding!
