We first ran into each other while hanging out with a mutual friend in our dorm during our freshman year of college. I didn't think much of our initial meeting, but Jack went out of his way to find opportunities to bump into me and hang out. After denying him a first date, I eventually came around, and after about two months of getting to know each other, Jack presented me with a Tangled coloring book (I love Disney and coloring) - the inside cover displaying a question that would mark the beginning of a long adventure: "Hey princess, will you be my girlfriend?"
We have always enjoyed time spent together outside - camping, hiking, exploring. We fell in love with the North Shore the first time we went together, and in October, decided to invite our friends Derek and Amber to join us for a three-day getaway. On the second day of our trip, we had just wrapped up a gorgeous (and muddy) hike up Upper Falls Trail and were enjoying the view from Shovel Point. Before returning to our car, we made our way down to a rocky beach, where Jack completely surprised me and popped the big question! The engagement was celebrated with drinks, a gorgeous sunset and a fire at a campsite in Split Rock State Park overlooking Lake Superior. It was perfect.
