Like all great modern love stories, theirs began... on an app. Both had been single for a bit, just living life and occasionally swiping—until one day, Trang had a serious sushi craving and decided to take matters into her own hands. She messaged Shaun and said, “Wanna get sushi?” (What can we say, she knows what she wants.) They met up at Fujiyama in Carrollton. Shaun pulled up in his truck (cue Trang’s first thought: “OooOo a truck!”) and met her at the door. Meanwhile, Shaun took one look at her and thought, “What a cutie!” It was off to a strong start. Once they sat down, the conversation just clicked. They laughed, joked, and realized almost immediately that this felt... easy. Like they had known each other for way longer than an awkward sushi first date. Then came the bill. Trang, trying to be slick, offered to pay—assuming Shaun would politely refuse. Instead, he smiled and said “Thanks!” calling her bluff like a pro. She paid. They still laugh about it. About a week later, life threw a little curveball. Trang’s roommates caught COVID, and she needed a temporary escape plan. Shaun, being the nice guy he is, offered his place. She packed a bag and ended up staying a whole week. Somehow, in between movies, takeout, and learning each other’s weird habits way too early, they realized this was the start of something real. And ridiculous. And wonderful.
