The Mass is a re-presentation (not representation) of the sacrifice of the cross, meaning that when one is in attendance of the Mass they are metaphysically present at the crucifixion of our Lord. This fact necessitates a solemn reverence of our God; it is for this reason you would not see people clapping or shouting during the ceremony. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is made up of two fundamental parts: the liturgy of the Word (Bible readings, as well as a homily) and the liturgy of the Eucharist (the consecration of bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Christ in thanksgiving, communion). Because Catholics believe that the celebration of the Eucharist is a sign of the reality of the oneness of faith, life, and worship, members of those churches who are not yet fully united with the Catholic Church are not admitted to receive Holy Communion. We believe that Holy Communion is truly the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ. While deeply symbolic, the Eucharist is not merely a symbol. In order to receive Communion, one must, out of respect for the Lord, be a practicing Catholic, in a state of grace, who has abstained from food and drink for at least an hour before receiving. The bride and groom deeply appreciate everyone's reverent compliance to the teachings of the Church on this matter. For more information on the Mass and the Sacraments, Carson & Tristan HIGHLY recommend the work of Dr. Scott Hahn; specifically his titles Rome Sweet Home, Swear to God, and The Lamb's Supper.
We must give a threefold answer to this question! 1. Our wedding will take place as part of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass previously described. To honor our Lord, and out of respect for the bride and groom, we ask that all take extra care to dress modestly. Please make sure that you do not have exposed midriffs, cleavage, dresses or shorts that are above mid-thigh/knee length, or any pants that are too fitted. 2. Our dress code is Summer Cocktail Formal! 3. Our reception is outdoors, so please keep that in mind. We highly recommend wearing breathable fabrics, like cotton or linen, and bringing layers for if the evening gets a little cooler. Hopefully it does!
There will be some downtime after Mass and before the reception at Rancho Roble. Although we will be serving dinner at the reception, please feel free to go get a snack and relax! Carson and Tristan's Recommendations: Bloom Coffee ~ Tristan's favorite is an iced chai latte. Rose Cafe and Bagel ~ Right next door to St. Clare! Nugget Market ~ Our favorite grocery spot! Coffee, smoothies, sandwiches, and smiling faces! Has a nice upstairs/indoor dining area. Sushi Kuma ~ Carson and Tristan's favorite roll is the Kiss Me (shocker). Buonarroti Ristorante ~ In Lincoln, near Rancho Roble. Great drinks and appetizers! Don't get too caught up in all the fun you're having exploring sunny Roseville, California! It takes about thirty minutes to get out to Rancho Roble!
