We met in high school through a mutual friend. I was 17 and Andrew, 19. We talked about where I would be leaving to go to college, and I ended up staying in Ukiah and now 9 years later we are getting married. We've survived through me going to 2 colleges, me going through nursing school, and Andrew going through his 4 1/2 year apprenticeship. We learned to grow up together, learn from our mistakes, forgive one another, and strengthen our love with each passing year. We cannot wait to finally be married and make lots of cute little babies to raise and grow our love and family.
We moved in to our house in August, so we wanted to host our first holiday with both of our families. We decided Christmas Eve would be the perfect time to get our families together. Andrew asked my brother for permission, and while I was making dinner, he pulled his sister outside to ask when he should do it, and before I know it, I hear, "Hey everyone, Crysten, Can I talk to you?" I turned around from cutting garlic bread, greasy fingers and all, and Andrew got down on one knee and asked me to marry him in front of our families. I immediately started crying and asked if he was serious this time, (he has faked it to see what I would say a few times), and I said yes! Of all the people to miss it, after I say yes, I hear my brother run out of the bathroom and say, "did I miss it?!" Andrew said he made a beeline for me after talking to his sister and didn't look around to see who was in the room, but he was able to watch the recorded video afterwards. Needless to say, it was perfect and I was so happy both of our families were there to witness our engagement.
