Our Story: How It Began

2012 - 2014

Crystal and Ramon met in 2012 at a party; however, it was not love at first sight. Crystal and Ramon became good friends but lost contact once Crystal graduated high school and went to University. It was at that point that Ramon realized he wanted to be more than friends. Ramon kept on trying to reach out to Crystal, but Crystal was hard to get (plus she did not want to have a boyfriend during college so she could focus on her studies). In 2014, Crystal finally gave in and started communicating with Ramon. The interesting part at this point was that Ramon was no longer in California, he was in Louisiana! This soon became a long distance relationship. Although many long distance relationships do not work out, this one was going smoothly. Of course, part of the reason was due to the fact that they both spoke on the phone and texted for hours daily and Ramon made the effort to visit Crystal in California. On his last visit in December of 2014, Ramon got the courage to ask Crystal to be his girlfriend. What did Crystal say? Well of course she said yes! Ramon shortly after moved back to California, which made their relationship even better.

Our Story: Five Years

2014 - 2019

Crystal and Ramon never really had a serious conversation about marriage; however, Ramon knew it would happen one day. He did not know this, but Crystal secretly felt the same way. After being together for five years, Ramon surprised Crystal with tickets to the see The Nutcracker Ballet in SF. Crystal was over the moon excited but soon realized she had no outfit to wear. They made time to visit Macy’s the weekend before the ballet, which surprisingly Crystal was able to find the perfect holiday dress after trying on various outfits. What she did not realize was that Ramon had secretly helped her pick out her engagement dress! But that was not the only secret he had from her. The night before the proposal took place, Ramon told Crystal that he had reached out to a photographer to take photos for their Christmas cards. Crystal was bummed that they were not able to take them earlier on in the month, so she was excited but shocked they would take place a couple weeks before Christmas. Nevertheless, she was overjoyed. You may ask yourself, did Ramon even ask her dad for her hand in marriage? Of course he did! But this did not take place until the day before. Ramon was trying to convince Crystal to visit her parents on Friday afternoon, when suddenly her mom invited both of them to dinner. This could not have occurred at a better time. After dinner, Ramon and Crystal's dad went to the garage to "check something out", and that is when he asked him for her hand in marriage.

Our Story: The Proposal

December 14, 2019

On December 14, 2019, Ramon and Crystal drove to San Francisco to take their "Christmas Photoshoot" a few hours before The Nutcracker Ballet. They met up with the photographer on Pier 7. It was a sunny and warm day, and Crystal decided to take off her coat before the photoshoot began. Since Ramon was still wearing his coat, she asked him to take it off; however, he simply stated he would after a few photos. Crystal thought nothing of it. The photographer provided them with several poses for them to get comfortable with the camera. It was about the fifth pose or so when the proposal actually took place! The photographer had Ramon and Crystal back to back. The idea was to have both of them turn around at the same time and give each other a kiss. At the count of three, Crystal turned around and suddenly did not see Ramon standing in front of her, but instead kneeling on one knee with a wooden ring box in his hand. To say the least, Crystal was speechless as soon as she saw Ramon and heard the words 'Will You Marry Me?'. She tried to take in all the loving words Ramon was expressing, but ultimately was very shocked. It probably took her a good thirty seconds for her to respond to Ramon as she was so caught off guard. If you ask her now, she most likely does not recall what exactly Ramon stated. Once those few seconds passed, Crystal finally yelled YES! You may be wondering, did they even watch The Nutcracker Ballet? Yes, they did a couple hours after the proposal; however, Crystal was super distracted with the proposal and the ring, that she was unfocused and kept smiling throughout the entire ballet. This is by far the best day of their lives...Well, until their wedding day, of course!
