Answer

October is one of the best times to visit Zacatecas. Expect: Daytime: 70–80°F (21–27°C) Evening: 45–60°F (7–16°C) Bring a light jacket for the evenings.

Question

Semi-Formal. Evenings can be cool, so we recommend bringing a light jacket or shawl.

Question

Is Villanueva safe?

Answer

As with any destination, use normal travel precautions. We recommend staying with family and friends, using reputable transportation, and avoiding carrying large amounts of cash.

Question

What currency is used?

Answer

The Mexican Peso (MXN). Most businesses in Zacatecas city accept credit cards, but in Villanueva we highly recommend bringing MXN cash.

Question

What is the best way to get Mexican Pesos?

Answer

For most travelers, using a debit card at a major bank ATM (BBVA, Banorte, Santander, HSBC) usually provides a better exchange rate than a casa de cambio. When using an ATM: Decline any offered "guaranteed exchange rate" or currency conversion. Let your bank perform the conversion. Use ATMs attached to bank branches. I would recommend: Exchange a small amount at the airport upon arrival if needed. Withdraw pesos from a major bank ATM in Zacatecas City or Guadalupe. Avoid exchanging large amounts at hotels, which often have less favorable rates. There are also exchange houses in Villanueva. Cambio De Dolares Centro Cambiario S.A. De C.V. - C.
