Our story began over a decade ago in the halls of El Paso’s oldest law firm. From the very first conversation, it was clear we were on a rare wavelength, sharing a sharp sense of humor, a love for the same music, and a mutual appreciation for anything authentic. For the first eight years, we were simply great friends. We spent nearly a decade orbiting each other’s lives as colleagues and confidants, bonding over work events, happy hours, and the occasional “power beer” when things got too hectic. We’ve always been just a stone’s throw away from each other downtown, and even as our paths evolved, we remained each other’s favorite person to grab a drink with. The Shift Timing is everything, and in 2023, the stars finally aligned. Our friendship transitioned into something more, and a first kiss at the El Mirador rooftop bar at the Hotel Paso del Norte confirmed what our nearly ten years of friendship had already hinted at: we were a perfect match. Our World Whether we’re traveling to see LCD Soundsystem, trekking to New Haven for “The Game,” or exploring the landscapes of Portugal, we’ve found that life is just better when we’re together. At home, the pace is a little more relaxed: settling in with a Coen Brothers movie while Bowie, our white poodle, makes it clear who actually runs the household. The most rewarding part of our journey has been blending our lives with Ryan and Lucas. They keep us laughing every day, and seeing the bond Crystal has formed with the boys has truly made our house a home. The Big Day Matt proposed in Portugal, but we’re bringing our story full circle by getting married at the Hotel Paso del Norte. It’s the place where our romance officially began, and we couldn’t think of a more fitting setting to celebrate a decade-long journey that was always leading us here.
