From Crystal: I was only a couple of weeks away from graduating with my MBA from the college I love, SUNY New Paltz. My head was buried in final projects, but my thumb still found time for a little pre-graduation scrolling on Hinge. That's when I stopped on a profile that instantly caught my eye. "What a nice name," I thought, looking at Dylan Goldstein. "And what a nice smile." His profile mentioned he wanted to go skydiving, an adventurer! (Side note: we still haven't gone, and I’m definitely still too scared.) Two days later, I got a message from him. It wasn’t a cheesy pick-up line; it was simply: "Hey, you have a nice name. How was your day?" I immediately thought, "Wow, what a sweet, polite intro." That politeness quickly became one of my favorite things about Dylan. If you know him, you know that respectfulness and kindness are just a part of who he is. Dylan patiently waited a few weeks until I was finally done with my MBA and had moved out of my dingy college apartment. For our first date, he asked me to pick my favorite restaurant. I chose Arata in Syosset. We had a wonderful time, but I later learned that he didn't even like the food! Classic Dylan, always polite, never wanting to complain. Things moved quickly after that. He introduced me to his parents on our second date, and then he took me on the messiest food date imaginable: Smokin' Al’s for BBQ. Despite two dirty faces covered in sauce (that place is delicious, by the way), I felt completely comfortable and totally myself. From that polite first message to countless adventures to Arizona, Hoboken, Florida, The Poconos, Lake George, Atlanta, Newport, and all the way to Hong Kong and Thailand, I knew I had found my person.
